The 2018 edition of the Midwest Mixed Sale took place on November 23, 2018 at the beautiful Michiana Event Center in Shipshewana. In its second year, the Midwest Mixed Sale saw a strong increase in both gross sales and average compared to the inaugural sale held a year ago. A total of 142 horses were cataloged and subtracting the outs sold for an average of almost exactly $10,000. Bidding was fast and furious for both breeding stock and race horses, with breeding prospect Hip 113-Southwind Thundra selling for $77,000 topping the session. She was sold to breeder Merlie Schwartz of Peru, Ind. The two year old filly is a full sister to $2 million+ winning champion Southwind Tempo. The racehorse session didn’t disappoint and was led by quality 3 yr old Swan For All filly Hip 131-Red Rose Swan, selling to Marlin Eash of Shipshewana, Ind. for $70,000.
